SUMMARY:Expansion Microscopy Webinar: See the Unseen: Making Super-Resolution Imaging Accessible with Magnify Expansion Microscopy
DESCRIPTION:See the Unseen: Making Super-Resolution Imaging Accessible with Magnify Expansion Microscopy \nPresented by Yongxin (Leon) Zhao\, Ph.D.\, Co-founder\, Magnify Biosciences Inc.; Associate Professor\, Carnegie Mellon University \nHosted by Nanci Kane\, Manager\, Waksman Institute Shared Imaging Facility\, Rutgers University \nDate and Time: Thursday\, September 18\, 2:30 pm \nPlease note change of time due to conflict with university-wide postdoc event!\nJoin Teams Webinar:\nhttps://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_MWY0ODZmOWUtNTEzZC00NjViLTk4YWYtMjQ2YTYxZWY2Yjlk%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22b92d2b23-4d35-4470-93ff-69aca6632ffe%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%223edd13ca-0850-485c-9d54-52a2f0656005%22%7d \nAbstract: Super-resolution microscopy has revolutionized cell biology\, but its adoption is often limited by the high cost of specialized hardware. Expansion Microscopy (ExM) offers a powerful alternative by physically expanding specimens\, enabling nanoscale imaging on any conventional microscope. However\, academic ExM protocols can be confusing to navigate\, complex\, time-consuming to optimize\, and yield inconsistent results. This webinar will introduce the principles of ExM\, Magnify\, and demonstrate how Magnify Biosciences’ commercial kits overcome common hurdles in practicing ExM and are suitable for a broad range of applications in many fields\, such as cell biology\, neurosciences\, and pathology. We will cover our versatile kits for various sample types\, from culture cells to freshly preserved tissues to FFPE slides.

SUMMARY:CBN Seminar: Yousong Ding\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:“Synthetic biology for illuminating cellular responses in space and the gut”\nCells adapt to environmental stressors through chemistry\, producing and responding to small molecules that mediate survival\, defense\, and communication. My lab integrates enzymology\, natural products\, and synthetic biology to uncover and reprogram these chemical responses across diverse systems. My talk will begin with our collaborative research on microbes associated with coral diseases and isolated metabolites. I will then discuss how yeast reconfigure metabolism during spaceflight\, providing insights into cellular resilience under extreme conditions. Finally\, I will highlight our recent work engineering native E. coli strains from the mammalian gut to express fluorescent reporters and bioactive metabolites\, offering new ways to probe host–microbiome interactions and therapeutic potential. Together\, these studies illustrate how synthetic biology can illuminate fundamental cellular responses from marine environments to the human microbiome\, and even beyond Earth.
