Bio sketch:

Itzik holds a Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, where he trained under Prof. Rafael Malach. His doctoral research combined intracranial recordings from neurosurgical patients with non-invasive techniques such as 7T fMRI to investigate the cortical-hippocampal interplay underlying human memory functions.
For his postdoctoral training, Itzik joined UC San Francisco to work with Prof. Edward Chang and Prof. Loren Frank on the neural mechanisms of speech production. His research uncovered a key role for theta oscillations in coordinating articulatory movements during fluent speech and revealed a dynamic interplay between the speech cortex and hippocampus that supports verbal memory formation.
